PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A ONE STAR REVIEW!! I am a 67 y/o Grandmother. Recently Moved from NC to be with my Grandchildren/family. I deal with chronic Pain every day. It's not a matter of if, I will be in pain, but how bad will the pain be, on any given day?? With the help of the Duke Docs, I was able to come up with a regimen eliminating the expensive and all encompassing Fibromyalgia Drugs, that I choose not to be on. When visiting Access Health, I was basically told that if I don't take the Fibro DRUGS, they would not continue the regimen I was on, a very inexpensive treatment for pain that is covered by my insurance co. Oh and by the way, did I mention that there is a Pharmacy within the waiting area? I believe Quality of life is very important especially as the years accumulate. And Doctors should have the intelligence and confidence to determine if someone is an abuser. Medical records are at your fingertips. Don't presume abuse until you at least review history and test results. I am unsure why you would put a patient through what I experienced today. I will be sure and let the Duke Docs know that they must "clean up their act" in order to reach your level of Patient care, in return maybe you can convince them that "Big Pharma" is NOT a strange bedfellow. You have totally changed my opinion of DO's, I thought they were more patient oriented then MD's, I have learned, it's quite the contrary. Patients should have a say in their own health care, and not be dictated to or put in a power struggle to maintain what is working for them. Medicine should not be something you DO to a patient, but what you do "with" them.
The one star would be for the support staff, whom I enjoyed, and was made to feel like a human being.
